Every Pokémon has an official color, and that is the point
Coloring a Pokémon is different from coloring a cat: there is a right answer. Pikachu is yellow with red cheeks, Charmander is orange, Squirtle is light blue, Bulbasaur is blue-green, Gengar is purple, Eevee is brown with a cream collar. Children know these colors by heart, often better than their parents, and a Pikachu colored green is not a creative choice, it is a mistake they will point out. That makes these pages a good test of care rather than imagination: the pleasure is in getting it exactly right.
The three starters are here on purpose. Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle are the first choice every player makes in the original 1996 games, grass, fire or water, and they still divide people thirty years later. Charizard is what Charmander grows into, which is why the two are drawn with the same flame.
Where you do get to choose is everything around the character: the meadow behind Bulbasaur, the wave under Squirtle, the woods around Charmander's campfire, the road Snorlax is blocking. Get the Pokémon right first, then do what you like with the rest.
Lay the character's color down flat and even before touching the background. A Pikachu with patchy yellow looks wrong no matter how nice the sky is.
Common questions
Which Pokémon coloring page is easiest?
The waving Pikachu: one big yellow shape, red cheeks, black ear tips and nothing else on the page. The sleeping Eevee and the Pikachu on a Poké Ball are nearly as simple.
What color is Pikachu?
Bright yellow, with red circles on the cheeks, black tips on the ears and brown stripes on its back. The base of the tail is brown too.
Are the three starters here?
Yes: Bulbasaur in a flower meadow, Charmander by a campfire and Squirtle riding a wave. Charizard, Charmander's final form, is here too.
Is there a hard Pokémon coloring page?
Bulbasaur in the meadow is the busiest: every flower is a separate area and they run to the edges of the page. Charmander's campfire scene comes next.
